Style Up, Cosy Down - Winter Styling

Posted by Jo Deakin on

The nights are drawing in, the anticipation of the festive season is brewing, and the feelings of making it a fabulous time for everyone are definitely coming into focus.

Our previous blog post was all about autumn survival, however this time we want to focus entirely on the beautiful things that are going to make the next few months both special and relaxing.

We love nothing more than a combination of social, fun-filled, busy weekends, with the occasional mid week plan thrown in, mixed and matched with quiet and cosy moments at home.

This combination requires organisation, forward-thinking and a really good dose of 'let's go for it' attitude!  We have all been kept indoors for so long, it is time to party, see friends and family and get out in the world again.  When the feet can't take the heels any longer, this calls for super cosy moments back on the sacred sofa.

Winter Styling can apply to both spectrums mentioned above.  Whether it is finding the best outfit to wear for the special nights planned ahead, or cosying up under a beautfiul throw, watching Strictly and eating a bowl of delicious comfort food.

For me dinners out with friends, a festive trip to London and some Christmas shopping are just a few excitements on the cards.  This will be met with a large sprinkling of home time, kitchen table suppers, pumpkin carving with the kiddies and curling up with a great book and a gripping boxset, what is not to love?!

Winter wish-lists can encompass so many things, but for me, nothing says winter style more than a really beautifully laid table.  It is inviting, warm, friendly and can showcase the best bits from your decorative kitchen cupboards.

Below are a few of our favourite products we love to include on the table to create a very special and inviting mood for our family and friends.

Beautiful water jugs

We absolutely love Issy Granger's glassware and these were a Birthday present from my sister which I love to get out and use as much as possible on special occasions.

Pretty flower vases

These glass vases can be used all year round and are the perfect vessel for adapting with the change season's colours.  From the wonderful Sarah Raven and her homeware section she now offers.

Perfect plates

It would be amiss for me to not use our exclusive new plates when laying the table for an elegant gathering.  Although they are smaller than a dinner plate, they are perfect size to use for a sharing platter starter and they look so pretty laid on the table to start with to add a signature splash of Jo D colour.

Elegant wine glasses

Yet another Birthday present request, these wine glasses are from the White Company and are a little different in shape and style.  They are a little less formal and make the most perfect lunch time wine glass.

Decoartive pieces

I found these garlic shaped decorative pots, that also make ideal vases, from the wonderful Birdie Fortesque.  Her table top wares are so stunning, it is difficult to choose each time!

Whether you are styling up for the social times, or cosying down for the home times, we hope these products help to inspire you to create a really beautiful feel in your homes this festive season.
